New ConstructionHalferty Development Co. LLC plans to develop a 71,000 sq.ft. retail project on 5.14 acres between Center Way and Raintree Court in Bakersfield, CA. The citys planning commission has approved a zoning change to accommodate the project, which remains contingent on the city councils acceptance of the zoning commissions recommendation. The project is slated to host several small restaurants of 1,500 sq.ft. to 2,000 sq.ft., including a drive-thru Starbucks. CenterAmerica Property Trust purchased Baumgard Development Corporations interest in Flamingo Falls Town Center, a yet-to-be-built 108,000 sq.ft. shopping center on 15 acres located at the southwest corner of Flamingo and Sheridan Roads in Pembroke Pines, FL. Mid-Atlantic Realty Trust began redevelopment of Security Square, an 80,000 sq.ft. shopping center located at the intersection of Rolling Road and Security Boulevard in Baltimore County, MD. The center will be anchored by a 57,000 sq.ft. Super Fresh with 15,000 sq.ft. of additional leasable space plus two pad sites. The center was formerly occupied by Hechingers. A February 2001 opening is planned. Belz*Burrow is developing Phase II of Air Park Commons, a 27-acre retail project anchored by a 220,000 sq.ft. Ward Parkway Center is currently undergoing redevelopment to build a 90,000 sq.ft. specialty center between Dillards and the malls indoor fountain.
