Lease SigningsThe Staubach Company (972-361-5000) brokered the lease of 23,000 sq.ft. for Barnes & Noble Booksellers at Avon Commons in Avon, IN. The store will open in November. The company also brokered the lease of 28,050 sq.ft. to Staples at 1523 15th Avenue West in Seattle, WA. The store will open in May. Staples also leased 22,019 sq.ft. at Menlo Park Shopping Center in Portland, OR. The company brokered two leases for Car Toys, Inc. in TX. The company leased 6,306 sq.ft. on LBJ Freeway in Dallas and took 5,500 sq.ft. at Rockwall Plaza at Interstate 30 in Rockwall, TX.
Landrys Seafood Restaurants (713-850-1991) leased Fire Station No. 1 from the city of Houston, TX and will build a restaurant and entertainment center that will include a shark tank, ferris wheel and carousel. The company expects to spend almost $20 million in renovations and new construction and will pay the city $150,000 annually on the 40-year term lease.
The Macerich Company (925-939-7601) signed a lease for the expansion of 37,000 sq.ft. to Saks Fifth Avenue at Carmel Plaza in Santa Monica, CA. The Saks store anchors the 115,000 sq.ft. center. Equity Investment Group (404-364-2984) leased space to the following tenants: A.J. Wright leased 26,694 sq.ft. for a 10-year term at Green Acres Plaza in Saginaw, MI; Schusters Furniture took 14,217 sq.ft. for a one-year term at Conway Towne Centre in Conway, AR; Dollar Tree leased 10,632 sq.ft. for a five-year term and Rent-A-Center leased 4,500 sq.ft. for a four-year term at Skyway Plaza in St. Petersburg, FL; Home Express took 10,000 sq.ft. for a five-year term at Dixie Village in Gastonia, NC; El Dorado Mexican Restaurant leased 4,500 sq.ft. for a seven-year term and Queens & Angels took 4,464 sq.ft. for a ten-year term at Northeast Plaza in Atlanta, GA; KFC leased 3,250 sq.ft. for a ten-year term and Syds Tobacco Outlet took 2,916 sq.ft. for a five-year term at Parkway Plaza in Winston-Salem, NC; Planet Smoothie leased 1,470 sq.ft. for a five-year term at Food Lion Shopping Center in Statesboro, GA; First American Cash Advance leased 1,265 sq.ft. for a three-year term at Napoleon Center in Napoleon, OH; Tobacco Deals leased 1,335 sq.ft. for a five-year term at Packard Plaza in Cudahy, WI and 600 sq.ft. at a five-year term at Northridge Plaza in Milwaukee, WI. Sigma National (804-320-6100) brokered the lease of 45,000 sq.ft. to Dicks Sporting Goods at The Creeks Shopping Center in Richmond, VA. The center is located across from Virginia Center Commons Mall on Route 1. The company also brokered the lease of 10,000 sq.ft. to Pleasents Hardware at Laburnum Shopping Center in Richmond, VA.
The May Department Stores (314-342-6300) subleased 28,381 sq.ft. from Service Merchandise Company, Inc. at a 59,250 sq.ft. store in San Antonio, TX. May Department Stores will pay $164,278 annually for the first five years of the ten year-term. The lease also includes three five-year options.
HSA Commercial Real Estate (312-332-3555) leased space to the following tenants at Orland Park Place in Orland Park, IL: Stein Mart leased 36,569 sq.ft.; K&G Mens Company took 36,511 sq.ft.; Jareds Jewelers leased 6,000 sq.ft.; 2nd Swing leased 3,904 sq.ft. and Dan Howard Maternity took 812 sq.ft.
Zell Commercial Real Estate (602-248-0600) brokered the long term ground lease to Sears, Roebuck and Co. at the Chandler Gateway power center in Chandler, AZ. Sears will build a 133,200 sq.ft. Great Indoors store at the site located at the intersection of Chandler and Metro Boulevards, across from the Chandler Fashion Center. The location will be the concepts second unit in the Phoenix, AZ market. The company also brokered the leases on the following spaces: 1,306 sq.ft. to Go Wireless, Inc. at Scottsdale Fiesta Center in Scottsdale, AZ; 961 sq.ft. to L.A. Wieght Loss Center at Greenway Promenade in Glendale, AZ; 2,505 sq.ft. to Off the Grill in Arcadia Promenade Shopping Center in Phoenix, AZ; 1,969 sq.ft. to Washington Mutual Bank at the Foothills Center in Phoenix, AZ; 1,500 sq.ft. to LMSA Financial Corporation for a Check Mate store at West Baseline Road in Mesa, AZ and 4,000 sq.ft. to CKAMC, LLC for an Easy Rider motorcycle rental store at Plaza 777 in Scottsdale, AZ.
R.J. Waters & Associates (610-444-6000) leased 8,250 sq.ft. to Fashion Bug in the second phase of The Shoppes at Kissel Village in Lititz, PA. The 124,000 sq.ft. center is anchored by Giant Foods and CVS Pharmacy. Other tenants include Blockbuster Video, Radio Shack, Hallmark, The Framery, GNC and McDonalds. The center has a 96% occupancy factor. The company leased 80% of its 121,000 sq.ft. Dilworthtown Crossing Shopping Center in West Chester, PA to the following tenants: Giant Food Stores leased 54,638 sq.ft.; CVS Pharmacy took 10,125 sq.ft.; Hallmark Cards will occupy 5,000 sq.ft.; Frankford Cleaners leased 2,000 sq.ft.; Dairy Queen leased 1,850 sq.ft.; Kings Island Restaurant took 4,500 sq.ft.; Caffe Napoli leased 3,500 sq.ft.; Textures by Wilcox took 2,500 sq.ft.; National Penn Bank took 4,000 sq.ft. and Bennigans leased 6,575 sq.ft. The site is located at the intersection of Route 202 and Dilworthtown Road. Groundbreaking is set for this summer and the opening is scheduled for spring 2002.
KLNB, Inc. (410-321-0100) brokered the lease of 23,010 sq.ft. to Odd Lots at Southgate Shopping Center in Glen Burnie, MD. The space is a former Super Fresh location. The company also brokered the lease of 4,500 sq.ft. to Atlanta Bread Company at The Village of Waugh Chapel in Crofton, MD. The chain has more than 90 units throughout the southeastern U.S. The company brokered the lease of 135,000 sq.ft. to Home Depot at Eldersburg Marketplace in Eldersburg, MD. Kohls Department Store also leased 86,000 sq.ft. at the center located at the intersection of MD Route 32 and Londontowne Boulevard. The center is scheduled to open this fall. The company also brokered the lease of 28,768 sq.ft. to TJX Companies for a Home Goods store at White Flint Plaza in Montgomery County, MD. The company brokered the lease of 4,334 sq.ft. to Bank of America at Golden Ring Plaza in Baltimore, MD and 3,004 sq.ft. to Jennifer Convertibles at The Shoppes at Dobbin Way in Columbia, MD.
