Harris Teeter (704-844-3100) closed its three locations along the Grand Strand in SC. The company sold a total of eight stores in SC to Bi-Lo Inc. including three in Greenville and two in Spartanburg. The three Myrtle Beach SC-area locations have reopened as Bi-Lo Supermarkets. The Kroger Co. also purchased 14 Harris Teeter stores in the Atlanta and Athens GA markets. The company has also sold four Columbia SC stores to Piggly Wiggly. Harris Teeter operates 136 stores in NC SC TN and VA after the sale.

Jacobson’s (517-764-6400) will close its store in Saginaw MI and take a $2.5 million charge in the second quarter. The company operates 24 stores in FL and the midstates.
