Insignia Homes will develop townhomes and a 12 200 sq.ft. strip center on the northern 13 acres of the 53-acre Wilke Marsh property outside Palatine IL. The parcel is located at the intersection of Route 53 and Rand Road. The center is planned to front Rand Road with the housing in the rear of the property. The land was originally to be used for a 210 000 sq.ft. retail development over a year ago but local activists fought to protect the marsh from environmentally insensitive development.

Shea Development is developing the Scripps Gateway Freeway Center in San Diego CA. The development will include two quick-service restaurants a full-service restaurant a U.S. Petroleum-owned mini mart and a neighborhood retail center. The project will also include two Marriott-run business oriented hotels and a park and ride lot. The site is located on Cypress Canyon Road near the intersection with Scripps Poway Parkway.

Heritage Development is seeking to develop a 189 256 sq.ft. shopping center on 37 acres near the Crystal River in Lecanto FL. The company has run into difficulty acquiring zoning changes on the site to allow the development. The site was proposed for a 281 000 sq.ft. Wal*Mart Supercenter but developers pulled out of the project after the state published a negative environmental report on the plan.

Stiles Retail Group is leasing the 75 000 sq.ft. Heathbrook Commons in Ocala FL. The center is located at the intersection of State Road 200 and Tartan Road and will be anchored by Publix Supermarkets. The project is scheduled to open spring 2002. Two outparcels are also available. The company is also developing the following projects throughout FL: the 150 000 sq.ft. Weber Lakes Retail located at the intersection of Curry Ford and Young Pine Roads in Orlando scheduled to be completed this winter; Westridge Commons located at the intersection of Orange Drive and Flamingo Road in Davie opening in summer 2002; West Creek Commons located at the intersection of Hillsboro and Lyons Road in Coconut Creek expected to be completed in fall 2002; the 72 000 sq.ft. Miramar Retail Center located at the intersection of Miramar Parkway and 172nd Street in Fort Lauderdale scheduled to open in fall 2002; the 200 000 sq.ft. Cordova Retail Center located at the intersection of Cordova Parkway and 17th Street Causeway in Cordova scheduled to open in fall 2002 and the 100 000 sq.ft. Riddle Commercial Properties will develop a grocery-anchored center located at the intersection of NC 24 and Maxwell Road in Fayetteville NC. The intersection has been designated a "node" and is being rezoned by county commissioners. Area demographics include a population of 15 000 residing in a five-mile radius.

NAI/Rohde Ottmers and Siegel is leasing the $40 million Pecan Crossing retail project located at the intersection of Highways 71 and 304 in Bastrop TX. The planned 400 000 sq.ft. center will be built in phases over the coming five years. The first phase will consist mostly of restaurants the second will focus on small retail and final phase will be for large national retailers. Area retailers include a Wal*Mart Supercenter and HEB Grocery. The site is also near the Sabine Investments and a Trammell Crow Company development anchored by Home Depot.

Wyatt Realty Services Inc. is developing the 600 000 sq.ft. Dorman Centre in Spartanburg SC. The site is located at the intersection of Highway 29 and Blackstock Road and construction will begin in summer 2003. The center will be anchored by a 219 750 sq.ft. Wal*Mart Supercenter and a 114 975 sq.ft. Home Depot. Four other spaces of 25 000 sq.ft. to 70 000 sq.ft. are available. The company is also developing the 244 824 sq.ft. Liberty Square in Thomasville NC. The center is located at the intersection of Raleigh Highway and Tower Road and will be anchored by Wal*Mart. The center is scheduled to open in July 2002. The company is also developing the 271 927 sq.ft. Rivers Edge Center in Dunn NC. The center is located on Highway 421 and will be anchored by Wal*Mart. The project is scheduled to open before the end of the year. The company is also developing the 253 683 sq.ft. Centre at Evans in Augusta GA. The site is located at the intersection Washington Road and Georgia Highway and will be anchored by Wal*Mart. The project is scheduled to be completed in February 2002.
