New Construction The John Akridge Companies is developing two projects in the Washington, DC market. The Hartford is a mixed-use development that will consist of a nine-floor office building with first-floor retail. The site is located at the intersection of Wilson Boulevard and North Highland Street and is expected to be completed in the Fall. Carroll Square is a 200,000 sq.ft., 11-story office and retail project being developed on F Street. Construction is expected to begin this year. Armada Hoffler Development Co. is developing the first phase of The Town Center of Virginia Beach, a mixed-use development in Virginia Beach, VA. The center will be comprised of 750,000 sq.ft. of retail space, 77,500 sq.ft. of restaurant space, 800,000 sq.ft. of office space and 82,500 sq.ft. of space reserved for a cinema, as well as a 300-unit hotel. Neighboring retailers include Barnes & Noble, Planet Music, Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, Columbus Movies 12, Circuit City, Hannaford Food and Drug, Sears and Dillard’s.
