Who's Opening & Where Darden Restaurants, Inc. (407-245-5366) is opening a Bahama Breeze location in Tukwila, WA. The restaurant, serving Caribbean-style food, will open at a former Southcenter Theatre location in mid-2003. The company operates 26 Bahama Breeze restaurants in 14 states. McCormick & Schmick (503-226-3440) plans to open restaurants on the East Coast this year. The company, which operates more than 30 full-service fresh seafood restaurants, is opening locations in Hackensack, NJ and Atlanta, GA.Peet’s Coffee & Tea, Inc. (800-999-2132) is opening five locations during late 2002. The specialty coffee retailer will open locations in Dublin, Santa Clara, San Mateo, San Jose and Santa Clarita, CA. The company operates 60 stores in CA, IL, MA, OR and WA.The TJX Companies (508-390-1000) is opening a Marshalls location this Fall in the 28,000 sq.ft. former Rite Aid building at South Sound Center in Lacey, WA. More than 575 Marshalls locations operate in 37 U.S. states and Puerto Rico. The stores sell off-price family apparel and home fashions.RTIN Holdings (817-788-9716) is opening Longview Pharmacy in Longview, TX through its subsidiary, Safescript Pharmacies, Inc. The pharmacy is the first of 19 company-owned pharmacies that are slated to open during 2002. The company’s next four openings will be in Tyler and Texarkana, TX and Shreveport and Bossier, LA. Ikea (610-834-0180) is proposing to open a 250,000 sq.ft. location on Damen Avenue in Chicago, IL. Ikea operates 139 stores in 22 countries. World Wrestling Federation Entertainment, Inc. (203-352-8600) is opening a retail-attraction location, including a 220-foot drop ride and more than 4,000 sq.ft. of retail and exhibit space. The location will open this Spring on Falls Avenue in Niagra Falls, Canada.Talbots Inc. (781-749-7600) is opening a two-level 8,500 sq.ft. Talbots location at the 33,000 sq.ft. Merchants Square in Williamsburg, VA. The company operates more than 800 stores in the U.S., Canada and the U.K. and plans to open about 80 stores this year. Ruth’s Chris Steak House (800-487-4785) is opening a 13,000 sq.ft. restaurant at the Corner Building at Bellevue Square in Bellevue, WA through a franchisee. The company operates and franchises more than 75 upscale steakhouses worldwide.Outback Steakhouse, Inc. (518-355-5000) plans to open two 69,000 sq.ft. supercenter stores in the northern suburbs of Syracuse, NY by the Winter. The stores in Clay and Cicero will replace smaller stores. Construction on the new Clay store on Route 31 will begin next month and opening is slated for Winter 2003. The new Cicero location will be built as part of Market Place Mall and is expected to open by mid-Winter. The company operates more than 100 stores in CT, MA, NY, PA and VT. The Bombay Company, Inc. (800-829-7789), a retailer of traditional and classic furniture, opened its first Bombay KIDS store on Alpha Road at the Dallas North Tollway in Fort Worth, TX last month. The closeout retailer operates more than 1,300 stores in 46 states under the brand names Big Lots, MacFrugal’s and Pic ‘N’ Save.Asprey (212-688-1811) is expanding and reopening its store located at Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue in New York, NY. In addition to the existing 9,000 sq.ft. of space that Asprey currently leases, the company acquired an additional 19,000 sq.ft. adjacent to the current site. This 28,000 sq.ft. space will become the new U.S. flagship when it opens during Fall 2003.The May Department Stores Co.
