Who's Opening & Where

Mike’s Restaurants, Inc. (514-341-5544) is planning to open The Mikes and Le Coq Roti restaurants during the coming five years. The first restaurant in the U.S. is slated to open in Las Vegas, NV, with others to follow in AZ and UT. Approximately 20 restaurants will be opened throughout these states during the coming five years.

Houlihan’s Restaurant Group (816-756-2200) is planning to open a 7,800 sq.ft. Houlihan’s restaurant on Route 1 South in New Brunswick, NJ during November. Area retail includes On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina, Bennigan’s and Fuddruckers. The company currently operates nine Houlihan’s restaurants throughout NJ.

Chipotle Mexican Grill (303-595-4000) is planning to open a 3,100 sq.ft. restaurant on the ground floor of an office building under construction at 401 North Front Street in Columbus, OH. The company currently operates eight restaurants in the Columbus area, including units at the Crosswoods Center and Easton Town Center mixed-use developments.

Gordman’s (402-331-4200) is planning to open two stores throughout the Oklahoma City, OK. The company leased space in Centennial Plaza Shopping Center located at 3000 NW 59 and at 2201 West Memorial Road in the Quail Springs Shopping Center. The stores are slated to open in late October. The store on NW 59 will take over space formerly occupied by HomePlace, while the store on West Memorial will fill space formerly occupied by Target. The company currently operates two stores in Tulsa, OK, with 41 stores overall throughout nine Midwestern states.

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. (336-726-8917) is planning to open Krispy Kreme locations in Boynton Beach and Boca Raton, FL. The Boca Raton location is on Palmetto Park Road, one block east of Interstate 95, at a site formerly occupied by Peaches, a music store. The 3,700 sq.ft. Boynton Beach store is located a half block west of Interstate 95 on Boynton Beach Boulevard. The company currently operates stores in Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Tamarac, in addition to 20 more locations in northern FL.

Sonic Corp. (405-280-7654) is planning to open Sonic Drive-In restaurants in Ellenton, Bradenton, Arcadia and Venice, FL. The company currently operates approximately 2,500 locations nationwide.

Total Entertainment Restaurant Corp. (316-634-0505) is planning to open 10 to 12 locations during fiscal 2003 and 12 to 15 locations during fiscal 2004. The company is looking to open restaurants in existing markets. The company currently operates 58 restaurants under the following tradenames: Fox and Hound Smokehouse & Tavern, Fox and Hound English Pub & Grille, Bailey’s Smokehouse & Tavern, Bailey’s Sports Grille and Bailey’s Pib & Grille.

Jersey Mike’s Subs (732-282-2323) opened a location at 9400 South Eastern Avenue in Las Vegas, NV. The company plans to open 25 locations throughout Las Vegas during the coming three years.

Whole Foods Market, Inc. (512-391-8400) is planning to open a store at the Towne Center at Cedar Lodge in Baton Rouge, LA.

Wild Oats Markets, Inc. (303-440-5220) is planning to relocate its Belmont Boulevard store in Nashville, TN to a 32,000 sq.ft. location at 1735 Galleria Street in Franklin, TN. The new store will be a full-service supermarket that features natural, organic and gourmet food, dietary supplements, household and body care products, as well as a full-service deli, meat, seafood, bakery and floral departments. The company currently operates 100 stores throughout 25 states and British Columbia. The company operates under the following tradenames: Wild Oats Natural Marketplace, Henry’s Marketplace, Sun Harvest and Capers Community Markets.

Stater Bros. Markets (909-783-5000) is planning to open a full-service, 43,235 sq.ft. supermarket located at the intersection of 14th Street and Beaumont Avenue in Beaumont, CA. Opening is slated for next Summer. The company currently operates 157 supermarket locations throughout CA, with 47 in San Bernardino County, 41 in Riverside County, 30 in Orange County, 27 in Los Angeles County, 10 in Northern San Diego County and two in Kern County.

Wolfgang Puck Worldwide (310-432-1510) signed Joll Enterprises as a franchisee to open Wolfgang Puck Express locations. The franchise rights established by Joll gives it a territory that includes western PA, all of OH and portions of KY. The agreement includes an obligation to open 15 locations during the coming five years. Overall, the company is planning on opening 30 locations throughout the area. The restaurants typically occupy spaces of 2,400 sq.ft. to 3,200 sq.ft. Besides gourmet pizzas, Wolfgang Puck Express locations will also offer gourmet sandwiches and soups. Overall, the company currently operates 30 Express sites nationwide.

Happy Harry’s Discount Drug Stores (302-366-0335) is planning to move from its location at the Talleyville Shopping Center to Concord Square, a 236,500 sq.ft. center located in Concord Pike in Wilmington, DE. Happy Harry’s leased 15,000 sq.ft. next to CompUSA. The space was formerly occupied by Costless Home Store. The company is planning to install a drive-thru prescription window and a one-hour photo processing site at the new store. The company currently operates 66 stores.

Liz Claiborne, Inc. (212-354-4900) is planning to open a 17,000 sq.ft. Mexx store at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and 52nd Street in New York, NY during September. The company also is planning to open locations in lower Manhattan and in White Plains, NY before expanding to other U.S. cities next year. Mexx features styles such as $199 faux shearling-trimmed coats, $59 cargo pants and $69 mesh-lined dresses. Mexx operates in more than 40 countries and is sold at 7,500 locations. In the U.S., the company is focusing on opening stores and not selling to other retailers.

Original Hot Dog Shop (412-621-7388) is planning to open stores within a 1,000-mile radius of Pittsburgh, PA. The company prefers to locate stores near college campuses. There are already locations near Penn State University, Ohio University and West Virginia University.

Gabriel Brothers, Inc. (800-698-3120) is planning to open a store in Altoona, PA during the Fall. The 50,374 sq.ft. store will be located in the Morningside Plaza Shopping Center on Plank Road, adjacent to the Logan Valley Mall.
