Bayer Properties and Forest City Enterprises, Inc. are planning to develop The Summit, an 800,000 sq.ft. upscale, open-air center located on Freemansburg Avenue along the Route 33 extension that connects Route 22 and Interstate 78 in Bethlehem Township, PA. Opening is slated during 2006. The center will be situated on a land area of 500 acres. The center is expected to be tenanted by upscale retailers and have distinctive architecture, extensive landscaping and sculptures and community-centered activities. The trade area includes nearly one million people earning approximately $75,000 as the average household income. The companies anticipate The Summit to feature two department stores, 75 to 80 specialty shops and multiple restaurants, in addition to other unique, themed anchor tenants. Regency Centers Corp. is developing Regency Independence Center located at the intersection of Sashabaw and Maybee Roads in Independence Township, MI. Opening is slated for mid-2004.
