Liz Claiborne Stores, Inc. (212-354-4900) is closing all of its stores in the U.S. The company will continue to operate 42 international Liz Claiborne stores and will open three Mexx stores and six Sigrid Olsen stores in the U.S. this year.

Goldblatt’s Department Stores, Inc. (773-286-5255) is selling the following six stores in the Chicago, IL area: at 87th Street and Dan Ryan Expressway, 75th Street and Stony Island, Belmont and Central, 47th Street and Ashland, 79th and Cicero and at the Crest Hill Mall.

Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc. (904-783-5000) has closed two stores in the Clarion, MS area and sold one in the Mendenhall, MS area. Increased competition and declining sales forced the closure of the 60,000 sq.ft. Brandon store at 11321 Government Street and the 34,000 sq.ft. Richland store at 1201 Highway 49 South.

Furr’s Restaurant Group (972-808-2923) is closing its Bishop’s store in the Quad Cities area of IA. The store will be forced to close when demolition of the mall reaches the store. The company is currently looking for another location in the area.

Turtle’s Music & DVD (800-829-6874) closed stores on Franklin Street and in the Eastgate Shopping Center in the Chapel Hill, NC area.

Bozzuto’s, Inc. (203-272-3511) is closings its Adams Super Food Store in the Tri-Town Plaza in Seymour, CT. Adams currently has stores in Derby, Shelton, West Haven and Milford, CT, as well as stores in NJ.

Wherehouse Entertainment (310-965-8300) is closing 200 stores nationwide after the company filed for bankruptcy. The company also cites music downloading from the Internet and competition from discount stores as reasons for closing the stores.

Casual Male Retail Group, Inc. (781-828-9300) is planning to close all of its Levi’s and Docker outlet stores. The company is trying to speed up the closing of 55 Levi’s and Dockers outlets during the coming two years. The remaining 30 stores will be closed when the leases expire. The company also will discontinue its Candies outlet stores. Candies, Inc. will assume operations of seven Candies outlets during the coming 12 to 18 months, at which point it will either buy the stores from Casual Male or close them.

Valley Book & Bible Stores, Inc. (818-782-6101) closed its bookstores in Santa Barbara and Ventura, CA, citing lean demand and increased competition from discount retailers. The company will continue to operate stores in Thousand Oaks, Canoga Park and Van Nuys, CA.

Troutman’s Emporium, Inc. (888-511-4961) is possibly planning to sell 15 stores to Dunlap Co. Emporium, operating under bankruptcy protection, currently has 22 stores in OR, five in ID, four in WA, two in NV and one in CA.

Avado Brands, Inc. (706-342-4552) closed its Don Pablo’s location on South Avenue in Boardman, OH. The company has closed nine Don Pablo’s restaurants and two Hops restaurants. The company currently operates 120 Don Pablo’s restaurants and 66 Hops Restaurant-Bar Breweries.

R&H Farm Supply (217-735-5505) is closings its store at 1100 Woodlawn Road in Lincoln, IL. The company also has stores in Petersburg and Beardstown.

Eddie Bauer, Inc. (425-755-6100) is planning to close its store on Lincoln Avenue in the Lincoln Place retail and restaurant complex in Santa Fe, NM because of declining sales. The company closed 43 stores nationwide last year.

Walt Disney Co. (818-560-1000) is planning to reduce its number of outlet stores to 405 during the next few years. The company closed approximately 40 stores this year.
