Who's Opening & Where Lowe’s Cos., Inc. (336-658-4000) is planning to open a Lowe’s Home Improvement store at Market Place Mall, located at the intersection of Interstate 481 and U.S. Route 11 in Cicero, NY. The store will be situated on a land area of 12 acres.
Ben & Jerry’s Homemade, Inc. (802-846-1500) is planning to open a 245 sq.ft. location in the South Bank Building in downtown San Antonio, TX. The store will be located at the street level of The South Bank.
Panera Bread (314-633-7100) is planning open a restaurant at Orange Plaza, a 900,000 sq.ft. center located off Dunning Road in Middletown, NY. The company also recently opened a store at Shrewsbury Plaza, a 225,000 sq.ft. center located in Shrewsbury, NJ. The company currently operates 11 locations throughout NY; six throughout CT and 27 throughout NJ.
Wal*Mart Stores, Inc. (650-837-5000) is planning to open a 39,000 sq.ft. Neighborhood Market store at the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and NW 23rd Street in Oklahoma City, OK. The store will be located on a pad site near the Penn Crossing Shopping Center. The space was formerly occupied by Grandy’s restaurant. Wal*Mart currently operates eight Neighborhood Market stores in Oklahoma City, Edmond, Moore and The Village.
Rite Aid Corp. (717-761-2633) is planning to open or relocate between 40 to 50 Rite Aid stores by the end of fiscal 2005 and an additional 100 stores by the end of fiscal 2006. The company currently operates approximately 3,400 drugstores throughout 28 states and Washington, DC.
Frisch’s Restaurants, Inc. (513-961-2660) is planning to open 21 Golden Corral restaurants throughout western PA, southern MI and the Columbus, OH markets by 2011. Following the openings, the company will be operating 62 Golden Corral locations. The company currently operates 26 Golden Corral restaurants throughout the Cincinnati, Louisville, Dayton, Cleveland and Toledo, OH markets with plans to open an additional 15 locations in those areas. Overall, Golden Corral operates 475 restaurants throughout 38 states, including 357 operated by franchisees and 118 that are company-owned and operated.
Dollar General Corp. (615-855-4000) opened a store in Clovis, NM. It was the company’s 7,000th store.
Sonic Corp. (405-280-7654) is planning to open approximately 190 to 195 Sonic Drive-In restaurants this year, including 170 to 175 franchised locations. The company currently operates approximately 500 restaurants and franchises more than 2,250 locations throughout 30 states, primarily in the South.
Wendy’s International (614-764-3100) is planning to open three restaurants near the Memphis, TN area. The new restaurants feature a double pick-up window. The company currently operates nearly 6,500 restaurants.
Noodles & Co. (303-554-1963) is planning to open 56 Noodles & Co. restaurants throughout Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego Counties in CA during the coming seven years. The company currently operates 70 restaurants throughout CO, IL, MD, MI, MN, TX, UT, VA and WI.
The Home Depot, Inc. (770-433-8211) is planning to open two Home Depot stores throughout Manhattan in the Flatiron District of New York, NY. Opening is slated for September. The first store will be located in the historic Hasbro Building located at the intersection of 23rd Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues. The second store will be located at the intersection of 59th Street and Third Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. The Home Depot, Inc. currently operates 1,783 stores throughout all 50 states and Washington, DC, including 14 in the five boroughs of New York, NY. The company also operates locations throughout Puerto Rico, eight Canadian provinces and Mexico.
Publix Super Markets, Inc. (863-688-1188) is planning to open a 44,812 sq.ft. supermarket at a center located at 889 Dawsonville Highway in Gainesville, FL. The company currently operates approximately 800 stores. Most of the locations are in FL, but the company also operates throughout AL, GA, SC and TN. The company also operates four “Pix” convenience stores throughout FL.
Save-a-Lot (314-592-9100) is planning to open stores throughout the Pittsburgh, PA area. The company currently operates as many as 15 stores throughout the area, but none of them are in the city limits. Save-a-Lot currently operates approximately 1,200 stores nationwide.
Caribou Coffee Co., Inc. (612-359-2700) is planning to open up to 75 stores this year and up to 100 stores next year. The sites would be located mainly throughout existing markets, but will also include locations in Richmond, VA and Cincinnati, OH. Caribou Coffee Company owns and operates more than 250 stores throughout nine states. The outlets, designed to resemble ski lodges and Alaskan cabins, offer a wide variety of coffee blends as well as specialty coffee drinks. The company also sells whole bean coffee and related brewing supplies.
Circuit City Stores, Inc. (804-527-4000) is planning to open a Circuit City store at Akers Mill Square on Route 41 in Atlanta, GA. Opening is slated for late spring or early summer of next year. The company currently operates approximately 600 stores throughout the U.S. In addition to superstores, the company also sells its products through mall-based Express Circuit City stores and online.

City Furniture (954-597-2200) signed an agreement with Ashley Furniture Industries and plans to open 13 Ashley Furniture HomeStores by 2007. The first 35,000 sq.ft. Ashley store opened at Sawgrass Mills Mall in Sunrise, FL, while a 32,000 sq.ft. store opened in West Palm Beach and a 22,000 sq.ft. store will open in Kendall this month.
Redner’s Markets, Inc. (610-926-3700) is planning to open a Redner’s Warehouse Market at Oxford Square, a center located on Route 10 in Oxford, PA. The 55,000 sq.ft. store is slated to open during November. The company currently operates approximately 35 warehouse club-style supermarkets under the Warehouse Markets banner and a dozen Quick Shoppe convenience stores throughout eastern NY and eastern PA.
Linens ‘n Things, Inc. (973-778-1300) is planning to open approximately 45 to 50 Linens ‘n Things stores throughout the U.S. and Canada this year. The company currently operates 473 stores throughout 45 states nationwide and in five provinces throughout Canada. The company sells bedding, towels, housewares and other home accessories, such as bath items and window treatments.
Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, Inc. (303-846-6000) is planning to open about 12 restaurants throughout MI during the coming few years. Possible locations include Livonia, Flint Township, Grand Rapids, Saginaw, Rochester Hills, Jackson and Kalamazoo. The company currently operates approximately 200 restaurants nationwide and in Canada.
