Rhino Video Games (352-376-8776) opened its seventh store in Jacksonville, FL. The company currently operates 35 stores. Rhino Video Games plans to continue expanding this year with the opening of 30 additional stores throughout the Southeast.

 

Villa Pizza (973-285-4800) is planning to open a store at the intersection of 42nd Street and 8th Avenue in New York, NY. Opening is slated for the Spring. The company currently operates 300 locations throughout 38 states and four countries. Overall, the company is planning to open 15 to 20 locations. The company also operates stores under the names Casa Java and the Everything Yogurt Brands, which include Greenleaf’s Grille, Treat Street, Everything Yogurt & Salad Café and South Philly Steaks & Fries.

 

Goody’s Family Clothing, Inc. (865-966-2000) is planning to open a store at the West Orange Plaza Shopping Center located at 3109 Edgar Brown Drive in West Orange, TX. Opening is slated for March. The 24,000 sq.ft. store will be located near Cato’s and Dollar Tree. The company currently operates stores throughout 18 states, including 15 locations throughout TX. Future plans call for 20 openings and the relocation and remodeling of about a dozen existing stores this year.

 

Lowe’s Cos., Inc. (336-658-4000) is planning to open Lowe’s Home Improvement stores throughout the Chicago, IL area. The company recently opened a 136,000 sq.ft. store on a land area of 11 acres in Lincolnwood, IL. The home improvement retailer intends to open stores inside Chicago’s city limits and is exploring building a location near the Brickyard Mall at 6465 West Diversey. Overall, the company plans to open 20 to 30 stores throughout IL during the coming three years. The company also is planning to open a location along Veterans Parkway in Clarksville as part of a 20-acre outdoor shopping center. Opening is slated for later this year. Area retail includes Wal*Mart Supercenter and Sam’s Club and the Jeffersonville Town Center.

 

Calvin Klein, Inc. (212-719-2600) opened a Calvin Klein Underwear store at 104 Prince Street in New York, NY. Located in a landmark building in the Soho neighborhood, the 800 sq.ft. store stocks both men’s and women’s merchandise. Additionally, the store will carry exclusive women’s items and fragrance. The underwear store is the latest location in a worldwide network of freestanding stores. This is the first Calvin Klein Underwear store in the U.S. The company operates five in the United Kingdom and 12 in Asia. Seven more stores are slated to open in Asia this year.

 

Le Gourmet Chef (732-578-1550) is continuing its expansion into malls with 20 planned locations this year. The company currently operates 73 stores nationwide. The company specializes in a wide variety of kitchen merchandise such as cookware, bakeware and electronics; decorative accessories, including candles, kitchen towels, napkins and casual tableware; and packaged gourmet food assortments such as hot sauces, bread dippers and gourmet coffees.

 

Bedrosians Ceramic Tile & Marble (559-275-5000) is planning to open a store, which includes a 12,000 sq.ft. retail showroom, located at 16450 Foothill Boulevard in Sylmar, CA.  The showroom will offer tile and stone for kitchens, bathrooms and specialty applications. Construction is expected to be complete by the end of this year.

 

Perry’s Restaurant Group (281-480-3337) is planning to open a 9,650 sq.ft. Perry’s Grille & Steakhouse restaurant at the Sugar Land Town Square located in Sugar Land, TX. The restaurant will feature four private dining rooms, a wine vault in the center of the main dining chamber and jazz music. The Sugar Land Town Square is cotenanted by P.F. Chang’s China Bistro, Bombay/Bombay KIDS, Café Express, Charter Tile Co., Houstonian Life, Jamba Juice and Japaneiro’s Sushi Bistro and Latin Grill. The company also operates Perry’s Italian Kitchen and Perry’s Meat Market.

 

Levi Strauss & Co. (415-501-6000) is planning to open its Levi’s for Girls concept in the United Kingdom. Stores are slated to open across the U.K., Germany, Italy and Spain this year, with further expansion planned for 2005.

 

Simmons Co. (770-512-7700) opened a World of Sleep store at the 315,000 sq.ft. HomeWorks outlet center in Jeffersonville, OH. The merchandise includes overstocks, items with blemishes and canceled orders.

 

The Eckerd Corp. (727-395-6355) is expanding throughout the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, Southwest, plus new markets in Phoenix and Tucson, AZ; Denver and Colorado Springs, CO; Albuquerque, NM and Mobile, AL. The company is planning 250 stores and relocations this year, for a total of 1,000 stores during the coming four years. The company is seeking freestanding locations or pad sites, but will also consider suburban strip centers or endcap locations. Preferred sites have land areas of 1.5 acres to 1.7 acres and an average daily traffic count of 20,000 vehicles. Area demographics include a population of 25,000 within two miles.

 

CarMax, Inc. (804-747-0422) is planning to open a store during early May at the intersection of Hanes Mall Boulevard and Kester Mill Road in Winston-Salem, NC. The store will be between 15,000 sq.ft. and 20,000 sq.ft. and will be situated on a land area of nine acres. The typical CarMax store is 40,000 sq.ft. The location will be a “satellite” store of the company’s larger store in Greensboro, NC. The company currently operates 46 used-car stores throughout 22 markets.

 

O’Charley’s, Inc. (615-256-8500) is planning to open two Ninety Nine restaurants, as well as adding improvements to existing O’Charley’s and Ninety Nine restaurants. The company currently has seven O’Charley’s restaurants and two Ninety Nine restaurants under construction. The anticipated store opening schedule for this year includes approximately 15 O’Charley’s locations, 12 to 14 Ninety Nine restaurants and up to two Stoney River restaurants. The company currently operates 205 O’Charley’s restaurants throughout AL, AR, FL, GA, IL, IN, KY, LA, MO, MS, NC, OH, SC, TN, VA and WV; 85 Ninety Nine restaurants throughout CT, MA, ME, NH, NY, RI and VT and six Stoney River restaurants in suburban Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; Louisville, KY and Nashville, TN.

 

Coldwater Creek (208-263-2266) is planning to open 40 to 50 ladies apparel stores in each of fiscal 2004 and fiscal 2005. The company is looking to operate approximately 400 to 500 stores in up to 275 markets nationwide.

 

Kirkland’s, Inc. (731-668-2444) is planning to open as many as 40 home decor stores during fiscal 2004, which will include 50 to 55 stores and 10 to 15 closings. The company currently operates 279 stores throughout 34 states.

 

Sports Authority, Inc. (954-735-1701) is planning to open approximately 20 sporting goods stores and remodel 135 stores. The company currently operates 390 stores throughout 45 states.

 

Darden Restaurants, Inc. (407-245-5366) is planning to open a location in Sioux City, IA during the Spring at the Southern Hills Mall. The 7,500 sq.ft. restaurant will be located across from the Barnes & Noble store, which is under construction.

 

Stage Stores, Inc. (713-667-5601) opened 34 stores last year and is planning further expansion this year. The company operated 378 stores under the following tradenames: Beall’s, Palais Royal and Stage throughout 13 south central states. Following the acquisition of Peebles, the company operates 522 stores nationwide. 

 

King Kullen Grocery Co., Inc. (516-733-7518) is opening Kullenary Café locations throughout New York, NY. The company is seeking spaces of 3,500 sq.ft. to 5,000 sq.ft. A vanilla box is preferred. The lease is for 10 years with multiple five-year options.

 

Thomasville Furniture Industries, Inc. (336-472-4000) opened a Thomasville Home Furnishings Store in Charlotte, NC and is planning to open more locations throughout southeastern FL and greater Atlanta, GA. Within two years, the company expects to have 20 Thomasville stores in the Carolinas, FL and GA.
