Who's Opening & Where Foot EFX (877-611-3338) is planning to open a 1,843 sq.ft. store at Westwind Lake Village, a center located at the intersection of Pontiac Trail and Haggerty in West Bloomfield, MI. Foot Efx is a national foot care retailer, which offers a line of supports designed by podiatrists, pedorthists, researchers, product specialists, trainers and other foot care experts.
Lowe’s Cos., Inc. (336-658-4000) is planning to open a Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouse store at Tops Plaza, a center located on Southwestern Boulevard in Buffalo, NY. The space was formerly occupied by Kmart. The company also is planning to open a 170,000 sq.ft. Lowe’s Home Improvement Center on a land area of 30 acres at the intersection of Route 6 and Route 209 in Westfall/Matamoras, PA. Opening is slated for Spring 2005. The store will be located next to Westfall Town Center, a 200,000 sq.ft. center anchored by Kmart and Grand Union. Overall, the company is planning to open 150 stores during 2005 and 150 to 160 stores during 2006. The company currently operates more than 930 superstores throughout approximately 45 states.
Saks, Inc. (205-940-4000) is planning to open a 120,000 sq.ft. Parisian department store at the Pleasant Ridge Town Center located near the intersection of Cantrell Road and Pleasant Ridge Road in Little Rock, AR. Construction on the store is expected to begin during the Spring with opening slated for Fall 2006. Parisian department stores carry apparel, shoes, accessories, cosmetics and decorative home and gift items. Saks, Inc. currently operates more than 350 stores throughout 40 U.S. states. Most of its stores are regional chains concentrated in the Southeast and Midwest, including Parisian, Younkers, Carson Pirie Scott, McRae’s, Proffitt’s, Herberger’s, Boston Store and Bergner’s.
Quizno’s Corp. (720-359-3300) is planning to open a 1,400 sq.ft. Quizno’s Sub shop at the intersection of Maple and Benstein in Commerce, MI.
Wal*Mart Stores, Inc. (650-837-5000) is planning to open a 203,000 sq.ft. Wal*Mart Supercenter location on M-25 in Fort Gratiot, MI. The company currently operates more than 4,800 stores, including approximately 1,475 Wal*Mart stores, 1,750 Wal*Mart Supercenter stores in the U.S. and the United Kingdom and 540 Sam’s Club stores. The company also is the top retailer in Canada and Mexico. It owns nearly 38% of Japanese supermarket chain SEIYU. Wal*Mart also has operations in Asia, Europe, and South America.
Home Depot, Inc. (770-433-8211) is planning to open a Home Depot store at the South Beach Regional Shopping Center, a 289,319 sq.ft. center located in Jacksonville Beach, FL during 2005. The store would occupy a space of 65,000 sq.ft. and was formerly tenanted by Kmart. Opening is slated for sometime next year or possibly in early 2006. The company currently operates 1,635 stores nationwide, as well as 54 EXPO Design Center locations.
Whole Foods Market, Inc. (512-391-8400) is planning to open a 58,000 sq.ft. Whole Foods Market store in Belmar, CO. Construction is expected to begin this month, with opening slated for November 2005. The store would be located in a 104-acre, mixed-use development located at the intersection of Wadsworth Boulevard and West Alameda Avenue. It will be the company’s seventh store in CO. The company also is planning to open a 50,000 sq.ft. store at Tiffany Plaza on Hampden Avenue, east of Interstate 25, in the Denver, CO area. The company currently operates approximately 150 stores throughout 26 states, Washington, DC and Canada.
Costco Wholesale Corp. (425-313-8100) is planning to open 34 Costco Wholesale stores next year. During the long term, the company is planning to open nearly 300 stores during the coming 10 years. The company currently operates 327 stores in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, 63 in Canada, 15 in the United Kingdom, five in Korea, three in Taiwan, five in Japan and 24 in Mexico.
Moe’s Southwest Grill, LLC (404-442-8933) is planning to open three Moe’s Southwest Grill locations throughout the Buffalo, NY area. The company expects to open its first restaurant by the end of the year in Orchard Park, while the following two locations would be in Amherst and Buffalo. The restaurant serves burritos, tacos, quesadillas and salads. The company also is looking to open five restaurants in Syracuse and three in Albany. Gap Inc. (650-952-4400) is planning to open a new concept aimed at women over age 35 next year. Gap currently operates more than 3,000 stores worldwide, including the following tradenames: Banana Republic, Old Navy, GapKids and babyGap.
Bed Bath & Beyond, Inc. (908-688-0888) is planning to open a 30,000 sq.ft. Bed Bath & Beyond store at the Great South Bay Shopping Center, a 500,000 sq.ft. center located on Route 27A in West Babylon, NY. Opening is slated for next year. The space was formerly occupied by Sweezy’s Department store. Cotenants at the center include Marshalls, Old Navy, JoAnn Fabrics, Ann Taylor Loft, Bath & Body Works and The Children’s Place. Bed Bath & Beyond, Inc. currently operates more than 600 stores nationwide, which range in size from 30,000 sq.ft. to 50,000 sq.ft.
Burlington Coat Factory Warehouse Corp. (609-387-7800) is planning to open an 81,000 sq.ft. Burlington Coat Factory store at Vaughan Mills, a center located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Opening is slated for Spring 2005. The company currently operates more than 330 stores offering current, brand-name clothing at less than the standard retail price. It also sells bath items, children’s apparel and furniture, gifts, jewelry, linens and shoes. The company operates under such names as Burlington Coat Factory, Baby Depot, Cohoes Fashions, Luxury Linens, MJM Designer Shoes and Totally 4 Kids in more than 40 states.
The Stop & Shop Supermarket Co. (781-380-8000) is planning to open four Stop & Shop stores in NH, including a location in Exeter and a second store in Manchester at the Valley Street Shopping Center. The company currently operates 345 stores throughout New England, NJ and NY. The company currently operates as several other East Coast supermarket chains, including two under the Giant Food banner and BI-LO.
