StreetSense (301-652-9020) hired Hal A. Vasvari, former COO of Federal Realty located in Rockville, MD. He joined Federal Realty in 1985 as executive vice president, overseeing and directing the development, leasing, property management and marketing departments. In 1994, Vasvari was promoted to COO and was responsible for day-to-day operations of the company. Vasvari has over 26 years of experience in the shopping center industry. Prior to joining Federal, he leased and developed shopping malls for several different companies. Most recently, Vasvari owned and operated his own real estate consulting firm, Vasvari & Associates.

 

Sizeler Property Investors, Inc. (504-471-6200) announced that Charles E. Miller Jr., who has served as CEO of the company since December 2002, has resigned. The company appointed Guy M. Cheramie to CEO. For the past 10 years, Cheramie had served as CFO of the company. Cheramie has over 25 years of experience in the real estate industry and formerly practiced as a CPA with a national accounting firm.

 

Combined Properties, Inc. (202-293-4500) hired Marianne Lowenthal as executive vice president of mixed-use development. She brings 20 years of commercial real estate experience to the company. Lowenthal was formerly executive vice president for Bond Cos. in Los Angeles, CA. During her five-year tenure, she was responsible for the real estate development group, identifying acquisition opportunities and development projects. She managed the development process for all projects, including Sunset & Vine, a $125 million mixed-use project featuring 300 residential units on four levels above 90,000 sq.ft. of retail. Prior to that position, Lowenthal held equity investment and management positions as principal to her own business, Lowenthal & Co.

 

Strathmore Development Co. (517-336-4400) hired Terrance A. Benton as director of real estate. Benton joined Strathmore as a principal and director of real estate. Benton will be primarily responsible for new project origination, management oversight of stabilized projects and various issues relating to projects in progress. Benton formerly worked for Meijer, Inc., where he was responsible for operations, supply chain and logistics management and merchandising management. During his tenure at Meijer, Benton focused on new store site selection, outlot sales and development of in-store tenant leasing.
