Rita’s Water Ice Franchise Co., LLC (800-677-RITA) is looking to open Rita’s Water Ice locations throughout CT, DE, FL, MD, NJ, NY, OH, PA, SC, VA, WV and Washington, DC.

 

Stage Stores, Inc. (713-667-5601) is planning to open 21 Stage Stores locations during the second half of the year, with the majority of the openings during the third quarter. The company currently operates approximately 545 department stores, mainly in rural towns throughout 29 U.S. states. Through its Stage, Bealls, Palais Royal and Peebles stores, the company offers moderately priced apparel, cosmetics, gifts and footwear. Nationally recognized brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, Liz Claiborne, Levi Strauss, Chaps, and Polo are sold alongside Stage Stores’ private-label merchandise.

 

Party City Corp. (973-983-0888) is planning to open as many as 15 Party City stores, as well as 10 temporary Halloween stores under the Halloween Costume Warehouse brand during fiscal 2006. The company currently operates more than 500 company-owned and franchised stores, mostly throughout the U.S., but also in Puerto Rico. Party City sells party supplies for birthday parties, weddings and bridal showers, baby showers, and a slew of holiday events, including Halloween.

 

Triarc Cos., Inc. (212-451-3000) is planning to open 28 Arby’s restaurants throughout AZ, CA, CT, FL, IA, IL, NC, TX, UT, VA and WI. Arby’s fast-food restaurants operates approximately 3,400 locations throughout the U.S. and five other countries. Arby’s is best known for its roast beef sandwiches and curly fries; it also serves salads and breakfast items. In addition, Triarc owns the T.J. Cinnamons and Pasta Connection brands, which are typically operated as part of a multi-concept location with Arby’s. Triarc owns about 230 Arby’s locations and franchises the rest.

 

Dave & Buster’s, Inc. (214-357-9588) is planning to convert two Jillian’s stores to Dave & Buster’s locations during 2006. Overall, the company is looking to convert 10 to 12 more stores within the coming year. The company currently operates a chain of more than 30 entertainment complexes throughout 18 U.S. states. Dave & Buster’s locations offer casual dining, full bar service, and a cavernous game room. The adult entertainment centers feature the latest in video games and motion simulators, as well as games of skill in which players can win coupons redeemable for merchandise. The D&B menu features traditional American fare such as burgers, seafood, and steak. The company also has one entertainment center in Toronto.

 

Cabela’s, Inc. (308-254-5505) is planning to open a Cabela’s store at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, CT. The store will be situated on a land area of 624 acres. Opening is slated for Fall 2007. The company currently operates 12 retail locations. The newest is a 185,000 sq.ft. store located in Buda, TX. The company also has the following stores under construction: a 150,000 sq.ft. location in Lehi, UT and a 185,000 sq.ft. store in Rogers, MN, slated to open during October. The company also has announced plans to open stores in Gonzales, LA and Glendale, AZ during 2006, with site in Reno, NV; Wheat Ridge, CO and East Rutherford, NJ during 2007. The stores feature waterfalls, mountain replicas, aquariums, and banquet and meeting facilities. Cabela’s sells footwear, clothing, and gear for fishing, hunting, camping and other outdoor activities. The company also sells merchandise online and has an outdoors show on ESPN2.

 

Stater Bros. Holdings, Inc. (909-783-5000) opened a 44,000 sq.ft. Stater Bros. supermarket at Sierra Crossroads located on Sierra Avenue in Fontana, CA. The company currently operates approximately 160 Stater Bros. Markets, mostly in Riverside and San Bernardino counties in CA. It also has stores in Kern, Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego counties.

 

The Bombay Co, Inc. (817-347-8200) is planning to open approximately 10 Bombay stores during the third quarter, including three BombayKIDS stores. During the fourth quarter, the company expects to open 10 to 13 stores, including three to four BombayKIDS stores. The company currently operates approximately 500 stores, mostly in malls throughout the U.S. and Canada, offering classic and traditional furniture, wall décor, and accessories for the bedroom, dining room, home office and living room. Bombay also offers products such as baskets, candles, home fragrances, crystal, and soft goods. It also operates four dozen outlet stores, 50 BombayKIDS locations, and sells items through catalogs and on the Internet.

 

Dick’s Sporting Goods, Inc. (724-273-3400) is planning to open 16 Dick’s Sporting Goods stores and relocating two stores by the end of the third quarter. Dick’s Sporting Goods operates approximately 235 stores throughout 33 states, following the acquisition of rival Galyan’s in mid-2004. The stores contain on average five smaller shops featuring sporting goods, apparel, and footwear for leisure pursuits ranging from football, golf, and cycling, to hunting and camping. Dick’s also sells merchandise online.

 

Ultimate Franchise Systems, Inc. (407-333-8998) is planning to open several Sobiks Sub Shop locations during the coming six months. Sobiks Cafes are designed to be placed in downtown office buildings and suburban commercial centers with a minimum of 90% occupancy. The locations are sit-down as well as take-out and delivery restaurants that generally require a smaller footprint to operate. The Sobiks Express concept is tailored for convenience stores food operations. Ultimate Franchise Systems franchises and develops a number of different restaurant concepts and offers management services to growing eatery chains. It has stakes in about 10 different chains, including Central Park, Jreck Subs, Mountain Mike’s Pizza, Obee’s Subs and Sobik’s Subs. Eddie Bauer, Inc. (425-755-6100) is planning to open a 4,900 sq.ft. Eddie Bauer store at the Shoppes at Grand Prairie, a center located at the intersection of Illinois Route 6 and U.S. Route 150 in Peoria, IL. The center is currently anchored by Bergner’s, Linens ‘N Things, Border’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Old Navy. The stores sell sportswear, outerwear, and footwear for men, women, and children through more than 400 retail and outlet stores in Canada, Germany, Japan, and the U.S.

 

Fired Up, Inc. (512-276-5711) is planning to open a Johnny Carino’s Italian restaurant at Northpark Mall located on North Range Line Road in Joplin, MO. Fired Up operates and franchises nearly 140 Johnny Carino’s Italian restaurants throughout approximately 25 states and the Middle East. The full-service eateries offer pizza and freshly prepared pasta along with beef, chicken and pork dishes inspired by the cuisine of Southern Italy. The company owns about half the restaurants and franchises the rest. A handful of Johnny Carino’s units are located in Bahrain, Egypt, Kuwait, and United Arab Emirates.

 

Jos. A. Bank Clothiers, Inc. (410-239-2700) is planning to open approximately 46 Jos. A. Bank stores during the second half of fiscal 2005, including at least 25 stores during the third quarter. The company specializes in making tailored clothing for the professional man, including suits, sport coats, dress shirts, and pants, and has added casual wear. It also debuted the David Leadbetter line of golf wear. The company sells its Jos. A. Bank clothes and a few shoe brands through its catalogs, Website, and approximately 287 company-owned or franchised stores throughout 37 states.
