Dillard’s, Inc. (501-376-5200) is planning to open a 98,060 sq.ft. department store in Casa Grande, AZ at The Promenade at Casa Grande. The shopping center is slated to open in the middle of this year and is tenanted by Kohl’s, Target, JCPenney and a 14-screen Harkins theater.

 

Supervalu, Inc. (952-828-4000) is planning to open 75 stores and remodel 80 by February. The company will be introducing a new concept, Premium Fresh & Healthy, by remodeling many of the 1,124 stores the company acquired from Albertsons, Inc. Supervalu trades as Acme, Albertsons, Biggs, Bristol Farms, Cub Foods, Farm Fresh, Hornbacher’s, Jewel-Osco, Lucky, Save A Lot, Scott’s, Shaw’s Star, Stop N Save, Shoppers Food and Pharmacy, Sunflower Market, Osco Pharmacy, Sav-On Pharmacy and Supervalue Pharmacy.

 

Lowe’s Home Improvement Cos., Inc. (336-658-4000) is planning to open four stores in Canada by the end of this year. The first store is slated to open in Hamilton, Ontario and will be followed by openings in Brantford, South Brampton and Toronto. The stores will compete with Home Depot, which operates 130 stores in Canada.

 

The Home Depot, Inc. (770-433-8211) is planning to open 115 new stores by the end of this fiscal year. The company opened 105 stores in 2006, including one relocation, two stores in Canada and one in Mexico. The company operates 2,104 stores.

 

Best Buy Mobile (612-291-1000) is opening nine stores in New York, NY. The mobile-phone exclusive stores are being operated through a partnership with Best Buy Co., Inc. and the U.K.-based Carphone Warehouse. The four stand-alone stores average about 1,000 sq.ft. The rest of the stores are based within Best Buy stores.

 

Ingles Markets, Inc. (828-669-2941) is planning to open a location in Westminster, SC this year at the site of a former Winn-Dixie store on U.S. 123. Ingles operates 197 stores in six states.

 

Bakers Footwear Group, Inc. (314-621-0699) is planning to open 12 to 18 stores in fiscal year 2007 with half opening in the first half of this year. During the third quarter of last year, the company opened 15 new stores bringing the total in operation to 261 in 38 states. The company trades under Bakers and Wild Pair formats. Bakers targets women between 16 years and 35 years of age, while Wild Pair is geared toward men and women in the 17 to 29 age bracket.

 

Luby’s, Inc. (713-329-6800) plans to open two restaurants this year. Offering home-style food and value pricing, the company operates 128 Luby’s restaurants in Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and the Rio Grande Valley throughout TX as well as other states.

 

Kahala Corp. (800-438-2540) is planning to open 400 Blimpie locations this year. The company also has 140 units under construction. The company is looking to expand its other concepts – Rollerz, TacoTime, Samurai Sam’s Teriyaki Grill, Great Steak & Potato Co. and Surf City Squeeze – into the Northeast, Southeast and West Coast.

 

Barneys, Inc. (212-450-8700) is planning to open Barneys New York locations in Scottsdale and Phoenix, AZ. In Scottsdale, the store will be located at Scottsdale Fashion Square at the intersection of Scottsdale Road and Camelback Road. The Phoenix location is slated to open in 2008. The company operates eight full-line stores, 12 co-op stores and 12 outlet stores.

 

Ulta, Inc. (866-340-3704) is planning to open a cosmetics store at Tempe Marketplace is Tempe, AZ. Cotentants will include Wal*Mart, Home Depot, Dave & Buster’s, a Harkins movie theater, Best Buy and Target.

 

Inditex Group (212-355-1415) is planning to open eight to 12 Zara stores during the next few years in the U.S. The company operates 24 Zara stores in the U.S. with plans to open new locations in San Francisco and Los Angeles, CA; FL; Boston, MA; NJ; NY and WA. The company also owns Pull and Bear, Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Stradivarius, Oysho and Kiddy’s Class. Inditex is looking to open 490 stores total during the fiscal year.

 

Avado Brands (706-342-4552) is planning to open the first Pablo’s Fajita Grill in Philadelphia by the end of the year, with 100 locations planned during the next five years. The company also owns Don Pablos and Hops Grillhouse & Brewery, operating 95 Don Pablos locations and 22 Hops locations throughout the U.S.

 

CiCi’s Pizza (972-745-9343) is planning to open 400 locations during the next five years. The company currently operates 600 units in 27 states and has recently expanded into Phoenix, AZ; Chicago, IL and Las Vegas, NV.

 

Kabuki Restaurants, Inc. (818-567-0050) is planning to open four to five locations in AZ and CA this year, as well as three to four units annually during the next five years in NV, TX and Washington, DC. The company currently operates nine restaurants in southern CA. Potential sites also include San Francisco, CA; Fort Lauderdale, FL; Memphis, TN and Seattle, WA.

 

TDL Group Corp. (905-845-6511) is planning to open two Tim Hortons coffee and doughnut shops in Buffalo, NY as part of the company’s goal of operating 500 locations in the U.S. by the end of 2008. A 2,000 sq.ft. restaurant is planned for the Key Center on Main Street and a 700 sq.ft. location is planned for the HSBC Center on Main Street. Most recently, the company opened a restaurant in Orchard Park, NY on Abbott Road in December.

 

Golf Galaxy, Inc. (952-941-8848) is planning to open 16 to 18 locations in fiscal year 2008. The company opened 15 stores during the past fiscal year, bringing the total in operation to 65 locations in 24 states.

 

Star Lumber & Supply Co. (316-942-2221) is planning to open a 33,000 sq.ft. store in Manhattan, KS during June. The store will be located at the intersection of K-18 and Scenic Drive in the Eureka Business Park. Based in KS, the company operates four divisions: Star Flooring & Decorating, Star Home Concepts, Remodeler’s Resource and Perfection Structural Components.

 

Ker, Inc. (727-535-2939) is planning to open its fifth Ker’s WingHouse Bar & Grill in TX. The restaurant will be located on Lombardy Lane in Dallas. Ker’s WingHouse Bar & Grill is a casual sports-bar serving over-sized entrees, including burgers, salads and wings.

 

Niemann Foods, Inc. (217-221-5600) is planning to open a 29,000 sq.ft. Campustown County Market in Campustown, IL. The store will be a smaller version of the company’s County Market chain. The company is also remodeling its Champaign County Market in Champaign, IL, located at the intersection of Kirby Avenue and Duncan Road. The remodeled store will focus on fresh and organic foods and will have a larger selection of prepared and deli foods, a new natural foods department, tables for eating on premises and a 100-person community room.

 

Wal*Mart Stores, Inc. (479-273-4000) is planning to open a 217,970 sq.ft. Wal*Mart Supercenter in Spring Mills, WV next year. The company operates 30 supercenters, four Wal*Mart stores and five Sam’s Club wholesale stores in WV.

 

Sweetbay Supermarkets (813-620-1139) is planning to open a 50,000 sq.ft. store at MiraBay Village in Hillsborough County, FL. Opening is slated for summer 2008. Sweetbay is a subsidiary of Delhaize America, the U.S. division of Delhaize Group. The company owns 2,600 stores.

 

The Kenny Family of ShopRites of Delaware (215-636-0260) is planning to open an 80,000 sq.ft. ShopRite supermarket in Wilmington, during January 2008. The store will anchor a 125,000 sq.ft. shopping center located on Howard Street.

 

Supper Solutions Franchising, Inc. (303-426-9300) is planning to open 22 Supper Solutions meal assembly kitchens, 19 of which will be located in CO. Two are planned for TX and one for Bloomington, IN.
