Who's Opening and Where Haverty Furniture Cos., Inc. (404-443-2900) is planning to open a MasterCraft retail furniture store in Rockville, MD this year. This will be its seventh location in the greater Washington, DC market.
BoJangles Restaurants, Inc. (704-940-8640) is planning to open a location in Pensacola, FL with projections to potentially open 450 locations throughout FL. This will be the fast food chain’s second location in FL, joining the company’s Jacksonville location. Expansion will be focused in Escambia, Miami-Dade and Okaloosa counties. The FL locations will all be franchised. There are currently 370 BoJangles restaurants in operation, with the company adding 35 annually in the Northeast and Southeast, as well as Mexico, Honduras and China. The menu focuses on Cajun-style chicken and biscuits.
Sonic (405-280-7654) is planning to open a drive-thru quick-service hamburger restaurant in Hamilton, OH with its franchisee, The Harmon Organization, in 2008. Expansion may continue in southern OH and the adjoining areas of Cincinnati.
Publix Super Markets, Inc. (863-688-1188) is planning to open two locations in Murfreesboro, TN during early 2007. The sites are former Bi-Lo stores. The company currently operates 889 grocery stores throughout AL, FL, GA, SC and TN.
Dillard’s (501-376-5200) plans to open a 200,000 sq.ft. store at the Zona Rosa shopping center in Kansas City, MO spring of next year. The department store chain operates 330 locations throughout 29 states.
Ashley Furniture Industries, Inc. (800-477-2222) is planning to open a location in Tuscaloosa, AL next to Kmart. The 40,000 sq.ft. furniture store is slated to open in late June or early July. This is the company’s third location in AL. The company is also opening a store in Springfield, OH near Kohl’s at Bechtle Avenue Mall. The 30,000 sq.ft. store is a former Goody’s location and is scheduled to open this spring by Morris Furniture Co., Inc.
Bar-B-Cutie (615-372-0707) is opening a location in Memphis, TN. The franchised fast casual barbecue restaurants are expanding throughout Atlanta, GA; Las Vegas, NV and Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX.
Minyard Food Stores, Inc. (972-393-8700) is planning to open two Carnival Supermarkets in Fort Worth, TX with plans to remodel two existing locations. The company is scheduled to begin construction of a flagship store in Fort Worth late this year, with another one scheduled to be built during 2008. The company operates 65 supermarkets, 39 pharmacies and 15 fuel stations in Dallas/Fort Worth, including 24 Minyard stores, 23 Carnival stores and 18 Sack ‘n Save stores.
Michael Kors (800-908-1157) is planning to open 100 Kors lifestyle stores, including a 2,000 sq.ft. store on Prince Street in New York, NY during spring 2008. Other openings scheduled for this year are at Topanga in Canoga Park, CA; Aventura in Avenutra, FL and Houston Galleria in Houston, TX. The lifestyle concept, which opened in Dallas, TX during July at NorthPark Center, focuses on accessories. Cotenants include Miu Miu, J. Crew, Apple and Intermix. Other lifestyle stores have opened at Town Center Mall in Boca Raton, FL; Pier at Caesars in Atlantic City, NJ; Westchester Mall in White Plains, NY and Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, NY.
AG Adriano Goldschmied (323-564-2100) is planning to open seven stores throughout the U.S. Among the openings will be a 3,000 sq.ft. store in San Francisco, CA and a 2,200 sq.ft. location in South Beach, Miami, FL, both scheduled to open next month. In the spring, a 2,300 sq.ft. location will open in Naples, FL as well as a 2,600 sq.ft. outlet store in Camarillo, CA at the Camarillo Outlets. In the fall, openings will include a 2,300 sq.ft. store at the Millennium Mall in Orlando, FL and a location in the Palazzo center in Las Vegas, NV. The company currently operates 13 full-price and outlet locations selling premium denim jeans for men, women and children in U.S. and South Korea.
Barnes & Noble, Inc. (800-422-7717) is planning to open a location in Buffalo, NY at the McKinley Mall during October. The store will feature a large children’s department, extensive newsstand and AT&T Wi-Fi service. The company operates 801 bookstores in 50 states.
Target Corp. (800-440-0680) is planning to open a store in Otsego, MN at the Great River Centre located at the intersection of Highway 101 and County Road 39. The 90-acre, 500,000 sq.ft. site will also have big box retailers and small strip-center types of stores. The company is also planning to open a store in Kingsport, TN at a former Mason Dixon site on East Stone Drive. Target will be one of the major anchor tenants of the new 625,000 sq.ft. Kingston Pavillion shopping center currently under construction. Target is part of phase one development and will occupy 127,000 sq.ft., situated on a land area of 10 acres. Opening is slated for October.
Splendid Plates Carried Away Cuisine and Catering (248-643-6000) is opening its first retail concept in Warren, MI at the Village of Rochester Hills, located at the intersection of North Adams Road and Walton Boulevard. The company is the result of a merger between Eventful Services Catering, a division of Big Boy Restaurants International, LLC, and Cucina of Birmingham. The store will offer chef-prepared, made-to-order gourmet carried-away lunches and dinners that can be ready in minutes, as well as a selection of pre-made salads, homemade soups, entrees and desserts.
Clix Portrait Studios (1-888-2GO-CLIX) is planning to open locations in CA and WA, with a goal of having 27 stores open by the end of the year. The stores will be located in Orange County, Roseville and Walnut Creek, CA and Seattle, WA. Since October 2006, the company has opened franchised locations in CA, NH, NY and VA. The company operates 11 portrait photography studios in CA, GA, MI, NH, NY, PA and VA.
Navarro Discount Pharmacies (305-633-3000) is planning to expand throughout FL, in Miami-Dade and South Broward counties, as well as Orlando, Tampa and West Palm Beach. The stores cater to Latino clientele and occupy spaces of 25,000 sq.ft. to 35,000 sq.ft.
American Girl, Inc. (800-360-1861) is moving its American Girl store in Chicago, IL to Water Tower Place. The company will move into the first and second floors of a former Lord & Taylor location and will open in fall 2008. The 52,000 sq.ft. location will include a café, theater, photo studio, doll hair salon, retail operations and a new concept yet to be determined.
Power of Fitness (760-327-7979) is planning to open four gyms in CA, including a club in Indio on Showcase Parkway, which is scheduled to open next year. There are currently two Power of Fitness locations: an 11,500 sq.ft. gym in Palm Springs and a temporary 1,900 sq.ft. Indio location. The gyms charge a monthly membership fee of $19.
Chef Dane’s (408-538-1380) is planning to open three meal preparation franchises this year. Most recently, the company opened a store in Needham, MA. The stores offer fully prepared meals that can be cooked by customers at home.
Skinovative, Inc. (866-266-SKIN) is planning to open two mall-based medical spas during the coming months, including a location at Houston Galleria in Houston, TX. The company operates four mall-based spas offering services such as Botox skin injections.
Lowe’s Cos., Inc. (704-758-1000) is planning to open Lowe’s Home Improvement stores throughout NH, in Concord, Gilford, Littleton and in Nashua, at the site of a former Shaw’s. The 116,000 sq.ft. Nashua store will include a 30,900 sq.ft. gardening center and is slated to open spring 2008. The store will be located on Daniel Webster Highway. The company currently operates 1,300 stores in 49 states, including five in NH. Existing locations include Amherst, Bedford, Epping, Seabrook and Tilton. |
