Who's Opening and Where


Saladworks (610-825-3080) is opening a franchise location on Spring Garden Street in Philadelphia, PA. The restaurant will be the company’s 13th location in Philadelphia and the company plans to open more than 200 locations during the next five years.  The company offers a variety of fresh, made to order salads, wraps and soups.

 

Buffalo Exchange, Ltd. (520-622-2711) is planning to open three consignment clothing stores annually in urban areas throughout the Midwest and East Coast. The company currently operates 29 company-owned locations and four franchises. The stores’ inventory is made up primarily from people bringing in their unwanted clothing to sell or trade. The stores are mostly located in the Southwest.

 

Trader Joe’s Co. (800-746-7857) is planning to open a 12,000 sq.ft. store in the Town and Country Village Shopping Center in Palo Alto, CA.  The supermarkets feature all the basic groceries, as well as more exotic items including imported cheeses, organic produce and hand-tossed pizza.

 

Lowe’s Cos., Inc. (800-445-6937) is planning to build a 140,000 sq.ft. Lowe’s Home Improvement  at The Gateway at Leander in Leander, TX.  The store will be located at the intersection of U.S. 183 and Crystal Falls Parkway and is slated to open during spring 2008.  The company currently operates over 1,350 locations nationwide and is planning to build 150 to 160 stores nationwide during the coming year.

 

Barnes & Noble, Inc. (800-422-7717) is opening a Barnes & Noble store at the Cherryvale Mall on Harrison Avenue in Rockford, IL.  The bookstore will feature 200,000 book, music, DVD and magazine titles as well a café serving Starbucks coffee and is slated to open in October 2007.  The company currently operates 801 locations nationwide.

 

Nordstrom, Inc. (206-628-2111) is planning to open a 35,000 sq.ft. Nordstrom Rack store at the Southcenter Square in Seattle, WA during fall 2007. This will be the discount fashion retailer’s sixth store in WA, with locations currently operating throughout Auburn, Bellevue, downtown Seattle, Lynnwood and Spokane. Nordstrom, Inc. currently operates 99 full-line stores, 50 Nordstrom Rack locations, five Faconnable boutiques, one freestanding shoe store and one clearance location.

 

America’s Incredible Pizza Co. (918-392-7891) recently opened a 57,000 sq.ft. restaurant at a former Albertson’s in San Antonio, TX.  The company currently operates eight locations and has plans for expansion during the next 10 years. The 1950’s themed restaurants feature four themed dining rooms, an arcade, indoor bumper cars, miniature golf, miniature bowling as well as offering a full pizza, pasta, salad and dessert bar.

 

Zpizza (949-719-3800) is planning to open 100 fast-casual gourmet pizzerias by the end of 2008. The restaurants occupy spaces of 1,100 sq.ft. to 1,500 sq.ft. in lifestyle centers.

 

American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. (724-779-5259) is planning to open at least 15 Aeri by American Eagle locations during the coming year.  The intimate apparel stores were launched by American Eagle in September 2006 and the collection of Aeri is currently offered in all American Eagle stores, including 18 side-by-side stores and on-line.


H & M (212-564-9922) is planning to open a location at Tempe Marketplace in Tempe, AZ.  The stores, selling stylish and inexpensive clothing and accessories, are planning an additional three to four locations throughout AZ.  The company currently operates more than 1,300 locations in 24 countries with 110 locations currently open nationwide.  The company opened its first location in the U.S. during 2000 on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, NY, growing throughout the East Coast until 2005 when the first location opened in San Francisco, CA.

 

Gap (650-952-4400) is planning to open 30 stores throughout CA, FL and NY during the coming three years.

 

Harbor Freight Tools (805-388-1000) is planning to open a 12,500 sq.ft. store in Regency Plaza in Sioux City, IA during June.  The discount tool retailer currently has three locations operating in IA throughout Davenport, Des Moines and Cedar Rapids and operates 266 locations throughout 41 states.  The stores offer more than 7,000 items, including home workshop and industrial tools, carrying major brand name products such as DeWalt, Makita, Pittsburgh and Stanley.

 

Peter Piper Pizza (480-609-6400) is planning to open 20 locations during 2007.  Expansion for company-owned locations will be throughout AZ and TX and franchise expansion is planned throughout San Francisco, San Jose, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties in CA; Denver, CO; Portland, OR; Salt Lake City, UT and Seattle, WA.  The family pizza and entertainment restaurants currently operate 132 locations throughout AZ, CA, NM, NV, TX and Mexico. 

 

Stage Stores, Inc. (713-663-9810) is planning to open 70 locations annually.  The company, selling brand name apparel, accessories, cosmetics and footwear, operates under the Bealls, Palais Royal and Stage names throughout the South Central region and under the Peebles name throughout Midwestern, Mid-Atlantic, New England and Southeastern regions with more than 656 stores currently open. The company also plans to expand the square footage of existing locations through store relocations and expansions.

 

Iridesse (866-294-5503) is planning to open a 1,450 sq.ft. location at Westfield Garden State Plaza in Paramus, NJ.  The company operates two other locations in NJ and 15 locations nationwide.  The jewelry stores offer an assortment of cultured pearl jewelry.

 

Frankitude (305-381-7118) is planning to open two locations by this month in Pembroke Pines, FL and Miami, FL.  The fast-casual gourmet hot dog restaurants currently operate locations in Doral and north Miami Beach, FL averaging 1,350 sq.ft. per location.

 

Pick Up Stix (763-212-5000) is planning to open six to 10 locations in 2007, 10 to 15 in 2008 with a total of 125 new restaurants open by 2012.  The Asian restaurants are looking to expand primarily throughout CA.  The company launched a new prototype in November that features an open kitchen, new logo, and wasabi and pumpkin hues.

 

Del Taco (949-462-9300) is planning to open 15 restaurants throughout Phoenix, AZ; CA and Las Vegas, NV during 2007 with franchise locations expected to open nationwide.  The fast food Mexican restaurants operate 481 locations nationwide.

 

Hat Club, LLC (480-829-0545) is planning to open two to three stores annually. The company is franchising and looking to expand outside the Southwest. Founded by former NBA star Danny Ainge, the stores sell hats made by Nike, Reebok, New Era Cap Co., DC Shoes at locations in AZ, CA, TX and on its Web site. The company offers memberships where customers pay a one-time fee and receive 20% off all subsequent purchases.

 

One World Fine Foods (619-696-6002) is planning to franchise its concept in CA and nationwide. The company currently operates one specialty natural food and product market on Sixth Avenue in San Diego, CA. Stores will range in size from 2,500 sq.ft. to 4,000 sq.ft. and will be located in neighborhood shopping centers, mixed-use developments, urban or downtown locations and college campuses.

 

Target Corp. (800-440-0680) is planning to open a 135,000 sq.ft. store at Alameda Towne Centre in Alameda, CA. Committed cotenants include Bed Bath & Beyond, Old Navy and T.J. Maxx, all of which are slated to open this year. Trader Joe’s and Safeway currently anchor the site. Borders is expected to open late this year or early next year.

 

Benihana’s (305-593-0770) is planning to open six restaurants this year.

 

The Home Depot, Inc. (800-654-0688) is planning to open a 106,278 sq.ft. store with an adjacent 34,760 sq.ft. garden center in Pahrump, NV. The store will be situated on a land area of 19.7 acres. Opening is slated for next January.

 

99 Cents Only Stores (323-980-8145) is planning to open stores in AZ, CA, NV and TX. The company operates 245 deep-discount retail stores in AZ, CA, NV and TX as well as a wholesale division, Bargain Wholesale.

 

Market World Hannam (213-382-2922) is planning to open a store in Rancho Cucamonga, CA at the intersection of 19th Street and Carnelian Street. Opening is slated for summer. The 36,000 sq.ft. Asian supermarket will sell baked goods, prepared deli items and will provide items found in mainstream stores. The company operates five stores in southern CA. The store will face competition from Ranch 99, which is scheduled to open in Chino Hills, CA during April or May.

 

Wal*Mart (800-925-6278) is planning to open a 99,000 sq.ft. supercenter in Douglas, WY.  The store will feature a grocery center, pharmacy and possible photo center and is slated to open in the next two years.  The company is also planning new store locations in Rawlins and Worland, WY.
