| Who's Opening & Where Steve & Barry’s (516-267-7359) is planning to open five stores nationwide during the summer, including its first locations in northern CA and southern FL. The openings include: a 24,000 sq.ft. store at Newark Mall in Newark, CA, which will be the company’s first northern CA store; a 36,000 sq.ft. store at the Mall at 163rd Street in North Miami, FL; a 64,000 sq.ft. location at Northpark Mall in Joplin, MO; a 27,000 sq.ft. location at New Towne Mall in New Philadelphia, OH and a 62,000 sq.ft. store at Columbia Place in Columbia, SC. Stone Hearth Pizza (617-484-1700) is planning to open 15 to 20 locations. The restaurants offer Neapolitan-style pizzas, along with salads, gelato and locally produced beers and wines. The company operates locations in Belmont, Needham and Sudbury, MA. Sophie’s Cuban Cuisine (212-922-9535) launched a
franchising program and has two franchisees seeking sites. The company also
recently opened its fifth restaurant on ShopKo (920-429-2211) is opening an 80,000 sq.ft. store situated on eight acres in Suamico, WI. The opening is the company’s first in six years and the store is slated to open during next spring. Navy Yard Bistro and Wine Bar (617-242-0036) plans to open its second restaurant at the site of a former Oxford Street Grill in Lynn, MA. The site will join the original location on Sixth Street in Charlestown, MA. Carrolls Corp. (800-348-1074) is planning to open Pollo Tropical restaurants throughout the Northeast. The company recently opened its second Pollo Tropical in NJ at a location in Clifton and its third Northeast location in Brooklyn, NY. The company also operates Burger King and Taco Cabana franchises. Melt Gelato (949-707-0456) opened its first location in the Northeast with a franchised store in Milford, CT. Additional Northeast openings are planned in MA, at South Shore Plaza on Granite Street in Braintree and at the Natick Mall on Worcester Street in Natick. The company currently operates locations throughout AZ, CA, FL, MO and OH. Papa Gino’s (781-467-1786) is planning to open six stores in New England this year and also plans to expand throughout the Eastern Seaboard. The company also trades as D’Angelo Grilled Sandwiches. The company currently operates 170 Papa Gino’s locations throughout New England and 200 D’Angelo Grilled Sandwiches restaurants throughout New England. Papa Gino’s offers a full line of pizza, subs, salads and Italian specialties, while D’Angelo offers 44 sandwiches, as well as wraps, soups and salads. Frette, Inc. (212-299-0400) is planning to open 18 to 20 luxury linen stores during the next three to five years with potential sites in Boston, MA; Bal Harbour, FL; Houston, TX; Atlanta, GA and Las Vegas, NV. In addition, the company will be opening a store at Americana Manhasset mall in Long Island, NY, as well as expanding its Madison Avenue store in New York, NY by the end of 2008. Frette’s Rodeo Drive store in Los Angeles, CA will also be overhauled. The company plans to expand its inventory to include more gift items, including boxed cashmere pillow and blanket sets, scented candles and decorative objects, pajamas and lingerie. Chipotle Mexican Grill (303-222-5912) is planning to open five restaurants throughout New York, NY this year, as well as seven more throughout the New York metropolitan area. The company currently operates 12 restaurants in New York City. Wegmans Food Market, Inc. (800-WEGMANS) is planning to open 11 stores throughout MD, NJ, NY and PA. Among the stores planned is a 160,000 sq.ft. location in Columbia, MD, slated to open during 2009, as well as 140,000 sq.ft. stores in Anne Arundel County and Prince George’s County in MD. In addition, the company plans to open a location in Harrisburg, PA during September and a location in Woodbridge, VA during the second quarter of 2008. Also in PA, the company plans to open a 130,000 sq.ft. store in Malvern that will sit on 97 acres. The company currently operates 70 stores. The Container Store (972-538-6000) is planning to open two stores this year and six during 2008. This year’s openings will be in Denver, CO and Cherry Hill, NJ. During the past year, the company opened a 33,500 sq.ft. store on Lexington Avenue in New York, NY and a 24,000 sq.ft. store at the Westfield Century City mall in Los Angeles, CA. The company currently operates 39 stores in 16 states. Supervalu, Inc. (952-828-4000) is planning to expand its new Premium Fresh & Healthy concept. The first store opened in Las Vegas, NV and has a GLA of 100,000 sq.ft. Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications (919-472-7000) is planning to open Sony Ericsson flagship stores nationwide and internationally. Currently, there is one Sony Ericsson store in operation, a 3,500 sq.ft. store in London. True Religion Apparel, Inc. (323-266-3072) is planning to open six stores this year and plans to have at least 50 stores in operation by the end of 2009. The company currently operates eight stores in CA, FL, IL, NJ and NY. The stores offer high-end denim apparel. Camping World (800-626-3636) is planning to have 100 stores in operation by 2008. The company recently opened a supercenter in Knoxville, TN that will offer the sale of recreational vehicles, in addition to outdoor and RV accessories. The company currently operates 75 Camping World SuperCenter locations in 25 states. Nautilus, Inc. (360-859-2532) recently opened a 24,000 sq.ft. store in Woodburn, OR on Interstate 5 at a 323,000 sq.ft. shopping center. The store will offer Pearl iZUMI’s cycling and running equipment, as well as Nautilus apparel. The company plans to open two stores annually. Crate and Barrel (847-272-2888) is planning to open its first store in NV, a 34,000 sq.ft. location at Summerlin Centre in the Las Vegas Valley during the spring of 2009. The company currently operates 145 stores. Laila Rowe (212-665-2452) is planning to open 100 to 200 jewelry stores nationwide.
