| Who's Opening & Where Einstein Noah Restaurant Group, Inc. (303-568-8000), in an agreement with Philip Enterprises, is planning to open four franchised Einstein Bros. Bagels restaurants throughout northwest AR, with a focus on Benton and Washington counties, during the next four years. The restaurants offer a variety of bagels, breakfast and lunch sandwiches, specialty coffee drinks, soups, salads and baked goods. The company operates under the brand names Einstein Bros. Bagels, Noah’s New York Bagels and Manhattan Bagel at 600 locations throughout 36 states nationwide. FedEx Kinko’s (214-550-7000) is planning to open 300 locations nationwide by May 2008, with an additional 20 locations to open internationally. The company offers copying, packaging, shipping and printing services and currently operates over 1,500 locations nationwide and internationally. Obee’s Franchise Systems, Inc. (866- 623-3412) is planning to open an Obee’s restaurant in Greensburg, PA this year. The opening is the first of 20 units planned with an area developer in Westmoreland and Cambria counties of PA. The company manages 50 Obee’s locations in 21 states spanning from FL to CA and plans to open 1,000 locations during the coming 10 years through area developers. The restaurants offer soups, salads and subs. Burlington Coat Factory (609-387-7800) is opening an 83,000 sq.ft. store at the site of the former National Wholesale Liquidators in Hunting Park Plaza, located at the intersection of East Hunting Park Avenue and G Street in Philadelphia, PA. The company currently operates over 350 locations throughout 42 states nationwide. Staples (508-253-5000) is planning to open a 24,000 sq.ft. store at Alexandria Commons located on Duke Street in Chevy Chase, MD. Cotenants include Baja Fresh, Panera Bread, Starbucks and Lone Star Steakhouse. The company currently operates 1,900 locations nationwide and in Canada and internationally. The Fresh Market (800-520-1556) is planning to open a supermarket at the Buffalo Ridge Shopping Center in The Villages, FL during 2008. Cotenants include Bonefish, Bealls, Golden Corral, Starbucks and Wal*Mart. The company currently operates over 60 locations throughout AL, AR, FL, GA, IL, IN, KY, LA, MD, MI, MS, NC, OH, PA, SC, TN, VA and WI. Old Navy, Inc. (800-333-7899) is planning to open a 15,000 sq.ft. store at Knoxville Center, a 326,000 sq.ft. redevelopment of a former Farmers’ Market site in Knoxville, TN. Old Navy will join Target at the center. Committed tenants include Bed Bath & Beyond, Marshalls and Ross Dress for Less. Urbahns Companies, Inc. (800-750-7675) is planning to open a 65,000 sq.ft. Storm Zone Entertainment Complex in Avon, IN. The center will feature indoor go-carts, bowling, laser tag, a billiard room and game room, in addition to a full-service restaurant/lounge facility. The center is slated to open during the beginning of 2008. J.C. Penney Co., Inc. (972-431-1000) has opened 14 locations nationwide during the year with plans to open a total of 250 stores through 2011. All new locations will be off-mall formats, featuring 100,000 sq.ft. on a single level, wider aisles, new lighting concepts, price-check scanners and front linear checkout centers. In addition, the company plans to remodel 300 stores during the same time period. The department store chain offers apparel and home furnishings, as well as brand names such as The Original Arizona Jean Company, Worthington, Stafford, Bisou-Bisou and Nike. The company currently operates 1,048 locations nationwide and in Puerto Rico. Vocelli Pizza (412-279-9100) recently opened a restaurant in Lanham, MD at Lanham Crossing Shopping Center on Annapolis Road. The store offers take-out service and home delivery seven days a week. The restaurants also feature a call center with a 1-800 number for customers to call. Besides traditional pizza, the franchise also serves gourmet pizza, panini subs, insalatas, stromboli, breadsticks, bruschetta, wings and canolis. The company currently operates 140 restaurants on the East Coast, including 41 in the Washington, DC market. City Bites, Inc. (405-607-8100) formed C.B. Franchise Systems with Burke & Grow, LLC. The company is planning to open franchised City Bites locations throughout the Edmond, OK market and other surrounding areas. The company operates 19 restaurants and plans to begin franchising this month. The restaurants average between 2,400 sq.ft. to 2,500 sq.ft. P.F. Chang’s China Bistro (480-888-3000) is planning to open a restaurant at a 100,000 sq.ft. lifestyle center that is an addition to the Freehold Raceway Mall in Freehold, NJ. Cotenants will include The Territory Ahead and Jared the Galleria of Jewelry along with Sears and JCPenney. The lifestyle center is scheduled to open during the fall. Cabela’s (800-243-6626) is planning to open a 150,000 sq.ft. store on Hackett Hill Road in Hooksett, NH. Most recently, the company broke ground on a location in Scarborough, ME. Club Libby Lu (866-542-2958) is planning to open 10 to 15 locations annually during the next five years, including its first store in El Paso, TX at Cielo Vista Mall, slated to open next month. The 1,500 sq.ft. stores cater to girls ages 6 to 12, allowing them to dress up as various characters, mix their own bath products and cosmetics, make a stuffed animal, get their ears pierced or shop for products. |
